Timber industry

Nowadays, the timber industry is facing the challenge of ensuring flawless final products and continuous production. Any defect or flaw on the product can incur significant costs to the company, either due to the refusal of orders or possible lawsuits by consumers. The soundness and the quality of the product as well as consumer safety are key and the manufacturers of leading brand also adhere to this principle. It can not be allowed for the tip of the needle or piece of metal to remain in the final product that the consumer purchases. Also, errors in the manufacturing process can lead to damage to various systems or devices. One source of errors is the presence of metallic contaminants in products or raw materials. Therefore, the detection and separation of metal contaminants are important parts of the production process in the timber industry.

Metallic contaminants can enter the manufacturing process in many ways. They can be found in starting materials or can form when defects occur on metal machinery and equipment, which are part of the manufacturing process. Detection and separation of metal contaminants are therefore important factors of production efficiency. For the detection of metallic foreign bodies, metal detectors are used, which detect metal particles and separates them from the manufacturing process.
